Dr. Samresh Dwivedi is a highly experienced scientist with expertise in plant breeding and genetics. He has over 40 years of work experience in both the government and private sectors, ranging from national-level research and development organizations such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to the Agri Business Division (ABD) at ITC Ltd.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dwivedi has led R&D development and innovations in agriculture, with a particular focus on developing improved varieties for commercial utilization.

He has been involved in development of medicinal and aromatic plants and authored approximately 60 original research papers. Dr. Dwivedi has also presented 42 papers in various international and national symposia, seminars, and conferences and edited dozens of books and bulletins.

Dr. Dwivedi has led various departments, such as Plant Breeding & Genetics, Gene Bank project, Sponsored Project Management (SPM), and Research Technology Promotion Group (RTPG). He has also guided several research fellows and project assistants for their PhD programs in the areas of plant breeding, genetics, and biotechnology.

Dr. Dwivedi’s research accomplishments include nine patents (five US, two Indian, one UK, and one Japanese), 84 research publications, 52 papers in conferences/seminars/symposia, proceedings & books chapters, ten edited/ authored books, seven popular articles, and four farm bulletins. He has also authored descriptors for tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) O.Kuntze) and developed minimal descriptors for 101 medicinal and aromatic plants.
